The idea to modify inkjet printer technology to
decorate fingernails was developed in the late 90's by a group in
Florida that subsequently led to the formation of ImagiNail in 2001.
There were two other groups, one in Ohio and another in Japan that
were also exploring this area about the same point in time. The
other groups were taking a somewhat different technical approach.
Eventually all of the technology rights for the different approaches
were secured by ImagiNail. As a result ImagiNail has a broad and
very extensive patent portfolio covering the use of inkjet printing
technology to print on nails.
The Nail Fashion PrinterTM
was developed and perfected over the following 2 1/2 years and sales
began in August 2003. By capturing all of the patent rights from the
different groups exploring this area, ImagiNail has secured a
leadership position for nail fashion printing in virtually every
industrialized country around the world.
